I am so, so happy to be a guest on Indiesew again today. This time as part of Coat Month! This post allowed me to move the Marmalade Jacket straight to the top of my to-do list. Plus I got to work with some amazing stretch faux leather, a new-to-me fabric I’ve been wanting to try.
Find out more on the Indiesew blog! (+ why I should not have chosen this as my first coat in faux leather!)
To say I am pleased with how this coat turned out is a big understatement. I’m deliriously pleased with how “un-handmade” this jacket looks. Every time I see it hanging in my closet I smile crazily to myself. That’s not weird, right?!
Have you made a coat or worked with faux leather before? What are your best tips? We’re listening!

Your jacket looks gorgeous! Color of the year according to Pantone. It looks great on you with the pink hair. Well done!
Hooray Elke! Thanks so much!
Stunning! Love the pattern details, the colour, the professional look. Wow! You created the jacket, you made the ‘look’, enjoy wearing it out for all to admire. Can we find this fabric in our Canadian shops? I would love to try a vest pattern.
I haven’t found the stretch faux leather here yet… I’m on the search though! My oldest is now requesting one in pink… I’ve got my work cut out for me! 🙂
Gorgeous! Beautiful work, great looking fit. Makes me want to try a jacket myself….maybe.
Thank you so much Mel! You can do it! One step at a time… 🙂 It’s so rewarding when it’s finished.
Wow! This is amazing!!
Yay Janette! Thank you!
What a fab jacket! It looks amazing. Love your modifications, intended or not 🙂
Thanks so much Jenya! It is so much fun seeing it in my closet 🙂
Love the jacket! It looks sturdy and feminine. Love the gathgers at the sleeves also, if you didn’t tell why you’ve made them, I would think it had to be that way.
Hooray! LOVE that you picked up on the feminine. I am loving the gathers too!
