Day 3 Folks! Still interested? I know I am, you all have been so helpful with your comments I can’t wait to ask another question! I am always grateful to get feedback on what you’d like to see and what you’ve liked in the past. It helps me to plan so much better and hopefully put together something that is better tailored to what everyone is interested in. (That said, today’s comment question has nothing to do with the blog!)
My family left for our vacation this morning and it was so much fun to read all of your comments as we drove along. I was super excited to see the amazing number of new readers that entered yesterday’s giveaway (which is still open) – Welcome everyone! I attempted to send you all a “Hi” through email, but I think I may have missed a few of you – if so I hope you will take this as your personal “Hello”! And a special shout out to Linda, who made me and my husband laugh when she mentioned that a “perfect wonky star” is probably an oxymoron! (See yesterday’s tray description for the background on this one…)
Today’s giveaway is not pretty, but it’s super useful! I thought it would be nice to give someone a pair of my favorite sewing scissors. I got my pair from my mom, and you can find out more about them in this post. Of course, with sewing comes the unfortunate necessity of a seam ripper – so I picked up a nice one of those to throw in today’s giveaway too. Don’t forget to make sure you enter for your chance to win each day this week – Monday’s Giveaway is here. Tuesday’s Giveaway is here.
Necessary detail recap again: Each day this week I am posting a new giveaway. Each giveaway will stay open until midnight on July 21, 2014 (EST). The giveaways are separate, so come back each day to find out what that day’s prize is and to enter for a chance to win! The giveaways are open internationally – so everyone can have a chance! Enter on the Rafflecopter widget below – and if you don’t have Facebook to sign in with, just use your name and email!
At the moment my favourite place to holiday is Fiji. It is close, family friendly and pretty affordable. And I do have some lovely memories from our visits there
I always loved spending a couple of weeks on a lake. We have over 10.000 lakes in Minnesota, and many of them are very beautiful. That’s where we went when I was a child, and where I would like to go again.
I loved San Francisco when I finally went there last year, and can’t wait to go back again.
I would totally love beach vacations, if it wouldnt mean to drive about 8 hours there, but right now we do a vacation with family, camping, lakes each year, and we really enjoy it
We love Martigny in the french speaking part of Switzerland. We are leaving for it on saturday, yeah. We love it so much because there are mountains to climb and a lovely lake in the valley to bath and we always had a great time as family, so lots of memories.
I love Tokyo. I’ve visited Japan twice and have made loads of friends over there. It is a really amazing place!
I love Germany and would love to go back for a visit.
I don’t really have a favourite place, I like to go to new places each time. I prefer cities to beaches
I love to vacation in Punta Cana. It is so beautiful and the people are so friendly. Thanks!
We love to visit our nations capital: Ottawa, Canada
It is a beautiful city with an amazing national art gallery, museums, restaurants etc!!
my favorite vacation is a cruise vacation. Everything is there for you and you don’t have to do anything but have fun. Wish we could go with a bunch of familly and friends too
I love beach/ lake vacations- we visited Sanibel Island in Florida last year and my kids loved the beach and shells and the grown ups loved the quiet atmosphere! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your vacation!
When I took my girls to Disneyland …we had so much fun!
My favorite place is Alaska. I’ve been twice and hope to go again next year.
The Azores islands are my favorite place. It’s such a beautiful place! You can take a look here: http://www.visitazores.com/en
Even though it’s practically in my back yard, I can’t get enough of Banff/Jasper/Lake Louise. The mountains, the lakes, the wildlife…breath-taking and sooo relaxing!
My favorite vacation place is NS, I was born there so I love the chance to go back. My absolute favorite place is Lunenburg!!
I’m kind of a home-body, so we don’t go far… but when we travel, it’s usually to TO as there’s so much to do there!! 🙂 Great for a day trip!
We love northern Michigan, specifically the Jolli Lodge!
Favorite winter vacation was to Jamaica. A beautiful island with such friendly people. Favorite summer vacation to Victoria…again a beautiful island with friendly people!
I love going to Cuba but this Christmas I am going to pick somewhere else to go, can’t beat the warm climates in the winter! Off to Buffalo next month to visit a friend then back home to sew.
A tiny island off the west coast of Ireland – so many lovely memories!
My favorite place currently is a campground called Troublesome Creek; it’s pretty and quiet, the sites are spaced fairly far apart, and the creek meets the river and the water is loud and amazing for blocking out any unwanted noise. And it’s near a short (and really steep) hike that ends up in the Wild Sky Wilderness and has the most amazing views. So I guess I like it because of how wonderful the place is.
The best vacation memory I have as a child is when we went to Oregon and we got to play in the sand dunes. I think I like it because it is a good memory; I don’t think I would be nearly as impressed with the sand dunes now.
I like to stay close to home as I have mobility issues but I love Algonquin Park, we used to do a lot of interior camping, canoeing and hiking there. It’s still worth the drive for a day trip!
I’m not picky, I’d be happy at most beach locations. 🙂
I don’t have a favourite place, just so long as I’m with my family we always have a good time.
Hawaii and more specifically the island of Kauai. It’s incredibly beautiful and has amazing beaches and gorgeous places to hike. Perfect!
It has to be London. I love the huge amount of theatres, history, food and shops. There is just always something new and wonderful to do. I also love Italy, we went there on honeymoon many years ago and took the family last year, such a beautiful place. x
The best vacation I’ve been on was probably Germany a few years ago with my family. We saw amazing sites and drank a ton of great beer! It’s always fun hanging out as a group.
My favorite place to vacation is Hot Springs AR. I have wonderful memories of my grandparents who lived there, and it’s a beautiful spot in the mountains. Thanks for the great giveaways and for your inspiring blog Sherri!
Nature – going to national parks, or places close to nature. It is just peaceful and refreshing.
My favorite place to vacation is Walt Disney World. My husband and I were married there in 2001, and we try to get back there as much as possible. I love going to Florida when the weather here in Wisconsin is cold and ugly! Thanks for the give away!
Great scissors! I used to have a pair, and they are especially nice for getting into tight places with their precise points.
xo Linda
Since we live on the coast in Southern Oregon, our vacations are a couple of camping trips by one of the many rivers around here. 🙂

I don’t vacation anymore, but back in my younger single days, I used to rent a cottage on Lake Erie with a bunch of girlfriends. That was always a fun time!
PEI was beautiful!!
I could definitely use both of these items. 😉
My favorite place to vacation is at the beach. We vacationed this summer with my sister’s family, and we all drove down to Seaside. We stayed in an adorable little beachy cottage, and it was so relaxing and fun for everyone. I hope to make this a yearly tradition for my family.
Sadly, I have to admit that my seam ripper tends to do a lot of overtime in my sewing room…
And for some reason I can never find that pesky little so and so whenever I need it (which is often!), so I spend about 15 minutes looking for it when I’m already annoyed with myself so let’s just say my seam ripper has heard a few choice words in its lifetime! 😉
Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Maine. It is an AMAZING place with so many great things to do. It’s an ocean front with lots of water activities and it’s also a wilderness with plenty of hiking, climbing, camping. The carriage roads are great for a relaxing old fashioned carriage ride or a bicycle adventure. We have been there several times, so we have many wonderful memories of being there with various family members. On Friday my husband and I will be heading that way to create more memories for just the two of us.
My favourite place is always where I am going next. I must suffer from wanderlust because I always head out to new places. There are so many new places to discover.
And quilt shops along the way…..
Those scissors are great… I have a pair in my collection (I don’t know how many pairs of scissors I have at this point, and yet I’m still constantly looking for a pair when I need them!) In terms of a fav place to visit, I love my home province of Nova Scotia, but if I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Hawaii. We’ve been there once and I can’t wait to go back… even though it took us almost 24 hours of travel to get there. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!
I don’t really have just one favorite, but I will say that our trip to National Parks in southern Utah (Bryce, Zion, etc) had some of the most spectacular scenery I’ve ever seen. If you like to hike, it’s a great place for that.
My favorite place to vacation is Rome, Italy. I have wonderful memories of our trip and it is an awesome place to visit.
familly, nothing to do but craft
My favourite place to vacation was Kelowna, in the Okanagan Valley, B.C. Fresh fruit, lots of sun and heat (the dry kind), vineyards and gorgeous evenings.
I like to go up to the mountains, turn off on a dirt road, and camp. Far, far away from the crowds and noise!
Stay-cations are my favourite. If I make a plan of WHERE we can go on what days we have on our holidays from work then I go locally to things I always think “I’ll do that next year” but now is the best time!!!
I usually spend my vacation in MN visiting family.
I love the USA 4 corners area: Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. You can’t beat all the national parks there. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com
Anytime I can be in the mountains hiking I am happy. It can be the southwest or here in the east.
I love San Juan!
I love Switerland; I guess it’s my favorite place both because of the beauty, and because of the memories. However, Maine and Alaska are close seconds! I love going new places, regardless of how “exotic” they are or not; we can always find something interesting to see or do. Have a great time with your family!
My favorite place to vacation is the beach. It is so relaxing and we have made new memories with our grandson in the last few years.
My favorite place to vacation is Jasper, AB. Both for the memories that have been made and for the quiet peacefulness.
My favourite place is Sauble Beach. My aunt and uncle from Houston have a cottage there, and it the one time of the year that we are guaranteed to spend time together. Lots of memories there! 🙂
Hands down – Ireland. I can visit family and relax on the coast. Always a good time! Thanks and have fun on your vacation. notwendy gmail
My favorite place to vacation is anywhere near the Great Lakes.
I loved to visit Montreal, Canada. I have some great memories of the 2 trips there but I mostly love the adventure of being somewhere where they speak a different language (without going overseas). svonfumetti at yahoo dot com
Montana it is beautiful there.
As a kid our favourite place was Santa’s Workshop just outside of Colorado Springs. Now visiting family is our holidays.
My favorite place is Bali! I’ve only gone there once, it’s such a great place! I went with my mom and my brother when I was a teenager. I’d love to come back there someday!
My favourite place is a log cabin in the woods about an hour away from home, it’s in Lincolnshire, UK.
Well in college I loved going to Europe for weeks on end! I also spent 2 weeks in thailand doing mission work, and loved that too. Now that I have kids, international travel is trickier, so we tend to go local. I do love going on roadtrips and seeing new things. Most memorable was a 10 day roadtrip from dc up to niagara falls, toronto, montreal, down to vermont, ct and NYC!
I like to vacation anywhere, including right at home. It’s what you make of your time off that counts!!
We love vacationing in nature. Recently we’ve been drawn to camping in the provincial parks along Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. We’re headed to Inverhuron later this summer; a definite must if you’re into camping. Such a unique area!
My favorite vacation spot was Germany where we visited this spring. But then there was Paris and London and I did like the time we went to Hawaii and Bar Harbor Maine and New York City. Oh, well I guess I just like to vacation. kthurn@bektel.com
I like going to Tuscon to see the Humming birds or a beach, any beach works for me.
We’re looking forward to making stops all around the southeast, VA, NC, SC, GA, TN, AL and more! I cant decide yet where are favorite is!
I live in Greece, so we like to go to the island Corfu, but it is such a beautiful country that I try to get my husband to go to many places.
My favorite vacation spot was Alaska. The views were amazing.
I love the Caribbean. i feel so at home there and just love the turquoise waters and sunshine. Uhmmmmm. Just thinking about those waters now.
we went to florida earlier this year for vacation, and it was the best vacation we had 🙂
My husband and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. It was amazing! Culture, people, and food! We highly recommend it!
Don’t really take vacations…but spent 2 weeks in NC, at our Daughter’s Home, a few Summer’s ago! Was Amazing!! Saw the Ocean for the first time ever!! We saw sooooo many fun & exciting things…..definitely my Favorite Vacation!! 🙂
We like to spend a long weekend at my sister’s in KS at least once in the summer.
When our kids were little the favorite vacation spot was a little lake with friends. Such good simple memories cooking out, the beach and spending time together.
I don’t really have one specific place that I’d call my favorite vacation spot. I can say that anywhere that I can be in a cabin on a lake is what my ideal spot would be. I love being near water and waking up on vacation to walk out onto a front porch of a cabin early in the morning to have a cup of coffee is my favorite part of the day. Well, as long as we aren’t in an area that has bears wandering around as that cup of coffee isn’t quite as relaxing while running from a bear wanting to say “Howdy! Morning lady; got any food?” LOL
ITALY!!!!!
Love the food, the art, the history
Honestly Home. Because we are rarely home anymore without something that MUST be done.
My favorite vacation so far was Portugal mainland and better yet was the Azores! Absolutely breathtaking! The people are amazing and the island of Sao Miguel was like home! So far away though… but maybe one day I will be there again!
I love to go to Daytona Beach Florida. My late husband and I used to go there in Feb and it was great to walk along the beach by ourselves at night.
Our most favorite place is Hawaii. We lived there and it was a wonderful place.
Norway was one of the best places I have visited!
My husband and I haven’t had the chance to travel/vacation… but I remember Disney World as a kid 🙂
I love going anywhere. Doesn’t matter 🙂
