Oh dear… it’s the last day of the giveaways… I’m a bit sad to see this week end. I’ve so enjoyed reading all of your comments! They are always such a bright spot in my day. I’ve saved my favorite bundle for this giveaway prize, because it happens to be my birthday today. I love vacationing on my birthday. The memories are always different and full of new things!
Today’s bundle… the photo does not do it justice. I’ve been attracted lately to metallic fabrics, and soft colours. And gold – which is apparently right on trend. Fancy, me being on-trend! I was never “that” person. I must be gaining a better perspective on life now that I’m 35. (Is it sad that I had to ask my husband how old I was turning before I wrote it down?!)
Anyhow. I picked up some fat eighth’s from one of my local quilt shops and paired them with a fat quarter of Crabapple Path that I recently got from Fabricspark. (Tomorrow is the last day in her Summer Sale! Code “Summer Sale” to save 25% on orders over $50.) Just for fun, I decided to add a few handmade buttons from some gold dupioni silk I had in my stash. I am imagining some sort of amazing bag made from this bundle, and since I bought some of the same fabrics for myself you might see one soon!
Here’s the detail recap again: Each day this week I have posted a new giveaway. Each giveaway will stay open until midnight on July 21, 2014 (EST). I’ll be back from vacation on Monday, so you’ll hear from me on Tuesday and hopefully I can post the winners by mid-week! Have a great weekend, and thanks so much for following along and hanging out with me this week. I so appreciate your support!
When I turned 10, I had a party with my friends and cousins and it was a blast!!! We had this huge steel bowl that was used for a salad at a large New Years dance, but with the addition of a cushion, we used it for spinning on the floor!! It was crazy fun!!!
My then-boyfriend flew cross country to surprise me in collage! He arrived at my doorstep 8am of my bday!!
My then boyfriend (now husband) flew cross country to suppose me on my bday once in college!
Last year my husband took me to San Juan for the week of my birthday! It was fabulous!
My favourite birthday was when my husband took me to Punta Cana for my 50th. He made all of the arrangements and reservations. All I had to do was pack my things. Thanks!
i spend all summer thinking about my birthday. hate the heat. unless it is the sunshine coming down on me when i am wearing a sweater in October!! my favorite color is green. you can’t go wrong with green. Happy Birthday Sherri….
My favorite birthday memory is my 16th birthday when I had 20 girls for a sleepover! So much fun!!! That was a looooong time ago. I also had trouble remembering how old I was in my 30’s! Hope you have a wonderful birthday! Eat some cake and ice cream for me!! 🙂
Hmmm… fav birthday memory. Probably when one of my friends threw me a surprise 19th birthday party. She even planned it at my own home and the whole gang was there. She really did surprise me!
Thanks for sharing your birthday (and giveaway gifts) with all of us!
I still remember falling asleep in my bed with a small fordable chair I had for my b’day, I was 6
haha its not sad you had to ask how old you are! it’s just a number! Hope you have a great one!
My favorite birthday memory is from the first birthday I had when my husband and I were dating. He completely surprised me. We had only been dating 9-10 months at the time. He made me a chocolate cake with a cherry-vanilla icing (best thing ever!), which was two layers and shaped in a heart. So much work! 🙂 He then gave me a ring with my birthstone in it. He set the bar really high from the start, and I was so blown away by the amount of thought and time that he put into everything! He is not one to bake (my birthday seems to be the only occasion), and I had no idea at the time that he cared so much! I wasn’t expecting anything, maybe a card and a CD! Haha! 🙂

Lots of great memories, but one that stands out is for my 16th birthday, I had a bunch friends come and stay at my dad’s restaurant at the local ski resort for the weekend, and we had gone out to a see a movie, when we came back to the restaurant, there was a huge banner up, wishing me happy birthday, and balloons filled the ceiling. We had a blast that weekend, but the balloons stand out, funny how something so simple can create such fond memories! Happy Birthday Sherri!
Hmmmm…. we do birthdays pretty easy & laid back… I think I just enjoy being with my hubby & kids. Being thankful for another day, another year.. 🙂
One of my favourite birthdays is when I turned 30 and I was pregnant with my first child. My husband and I took a trip to Jamaica and it was just fabulous…the setting and entering a new stage in life! Happy birthday Sherri!!
Going to an event with some girlfriends for my 16th birthday. I felt sooo grown up! 😀
Birthdays were never big in our family when I was growing up and my husband isn’t too good with it either. In fact I rather sadly can think of several when he has forgotten, but I think my favourite was when he bought me a gift voucher for a beauty salon visit and I had a lovely relaxing time. There is always a cake because a birthday must have cake. Wishing you a wonderful birthday and happy memories. x
Happy Birthday! I can never remember how old I am either 🙂 2 years ago my family rented a cottage during the week of my birthday. I don’t get to see them very often because we live far apart, so it was great spending a whole week with them!
first Happy Birthday!!
My favorite Birthday memory is when my daughters brought me to the Renisance Festival and we spent the whole day together haveing a great time
I loved my birthday when I was a kid. Always invited my best friend over for a sleepover & we ended up talking & giggling all night.
The metallics are a great twist on nuetrals. Favorite Birthday Memory = When I was 10 years old, I had my first party with friends. All the girls wore dresses and white patten leather shoes. I especially remember the May Pole. (Dating myself here) svonfumetti at yahoo dot com
Last year I turned 50 and had an amazing surprise party at our trailer!
My favorite birthday was when I turned the big 50, my son and daughter took me to see Aerosmith, made me feel young, that was my 5th time seeing them and enjoyed every minute of it. Sewing is my favorite then comes music, Happy Birthday, enjoy your 30’s that was the age I had the most fun!
My favorite birthday memory is from the sleepover I had when I turned 16. Sometime during the night us girls decided to straighten my (hip length) hair. Since the iron was in my parents room, where they were sleeping, we decided the best course of action was to go down the road and get the iron from my friend’s house. My parents weren’t too happy to wake up and find we were gone (whoops!) but it was a great time. 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win, and enjoy your birthday!!
Lovely fabrics!
Happy Birthday! What a great way to spend it – with the people you love most in the world on an adventure! I’ve been wanting to try some of the new metallic fabrics, so this would come in handy!
Enjoy your break, and be sure to post lots of pictures when you get back!

My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to the southwest. We got to spend my birthday at the Grand Canyon and it was a fabulous day

My favorite birthday memory is when I turned 16. Celebrated with a group of friends and got my driver’s license the day. Freedom!
My favorite birthday memory would have to be my most recent one in January. I hit that milestone birthday . . . 60 . . . and my two daughters had a surprise party for me. And it was indeed a surprise! Vehicles parked all over the street at my one daughter’s house where the party was, and in my typical fashion, I did not notice let alone recognize a single one!!
HAPPY 35TH BIRTHDAY!!! What a perfect age to be, you get to enjoy the wisdom you have acquired and yet still young enough to gain some new perspectives. Great giveaway. Love the buttons that go so well with the fabrics.
For my 35th birthday I went skydiving. I so wanted to do a tumbling jump (flip) that I had seen on commercials so I went on a tandem jump. I talked my brother into jumping with me. Skydiving is an ultimate high. I jumped in November so it was cold that high up (14,000 ft) but I didn’t notice. I also forgot to pull my chute cord so I was fortunate to be attached to someone who did. LOL. I was so enjoying the scene from the sky.
My favorite birthday memory is always the next birthday coming up 🙂 Happy birthday!
I was fortunate enough to spend my 35th birthday in Paris, only because it fell in the middle of a tour I was on with my church choir. My birthday, May 8, is also a national holiday in France (their VE Day) so there was a parade! Thanks for the awesome give aways this week and Happy Birthday!
My 60th birthday with a surprise barbecue with friends and family on the day I arrived back in New Zealand for a holiday
Happy Birthday!! I got married 35 years ago on the 7th of July, the day after my birthday. I guess that would be my favorite birthday. 🙂

I remember buying my first (my very own) sewing machine for my birthday when I had my first full time job.
Doing what I want to, not what other people want me to do.
Happy Happy Birthday to YOU!!! Hope your Birthday has been as fun for you, as it is being for your Followers! 🙂
My favorite Birthday Memory has to be when our 2 older daughter’s made me a Merry-go-round cake..with allll 40 candles! lol Was such fun!!
My favourite birthday memory is the year I turned ten, and I got a Smith-Corona portable typewriter, blue. It opened up the world of writing to me. I loved it.
Happy birthday! My favorite birthday memory is when my sweet hubby suggested that for my birthday one year, I go pick out a new sewing machine! After driving across town and back for a few days, I ended up with my Bernina.
My teenage daughters threw me a surprise birthday party when I was 40. I had no clue it was going to happen! And I didn’t even know that my teenagers liked me! Thanks for this generous way to celebrate your birthday Sheri! I hope you have a great one.
I love gold printed fabric! That crabapple print is lovely also. Thanks for this giveaway chance.
I love gold printed fabric! That crabapple print is lovely also. Thanks for this giveaway chance. When I was 16 I received a beautiful palomino horse. I named her Boo.
The surprise party my husband threw for my 30th!
Happy Birthday! 50 was a big year for me, we moved to a new home and I became a grandma twice.
My niece was born on my 21st birthday.
Happy Birthday! I laughed when I read that you had to ask your husband how old you were turning; I do that, too. 🙂 I hope that you make memories this year that you can look back on as being the best birthday memories! I have so many, but I guess I loved last year’s birthday; my husband took me to Longwood Gardens, PA, to an outdoor orchestra concert, and we brought a picnic with wine, strawberries, and cheese and listened to beautiful music while the sun set, and the stage lit up with golden lights, and I wore my big floppy pink hat. 🙂 I love doing things as my birthday present! My birthday is in a week, and I think this year we’re going to the Laura Ingalls Wilder museum.
5th birthday cake with ballerinas.
For some reason my sixth birthday party is standing out in my mind right now. I had several girls over and everyone wore a nice party dress. There were yellow tiaras and party blowers on the table and everyone received a fan as a party favour which we all posed with for photos.
My favourite birthday memory is the year my step-dad installed a phone in my bedroom…the dream of every 13 year old girl (at the time, anyway!). 🙂
My cake is my fav memory. Mom made my favorite every year!
My favorite birthday memory actually isn’t from my birthday – it’s from my friend’s surprise 40th party. She had absolutely NO idea…in fact she thought *she* was the one planning a small get-together with friends. Little did she know that we knew her so well, we had already been planning EXACTLY what she wanted for over a month! It was hilarious to see her reaction!
Would love to win. Beautiful gold fabrics.
having a baby on my 30th birthday was pretty memorable! I also remember my 13th birthday when my parents took me out to a fancy restaurant and bought me my first glass of wine 😉
I don’t remember how old I was (fairly young), but after my birthday party, I raided my Dad’s penny jar and taught all the kids to play penny-ante poker!
my favorite birthday memory…… is the memory I get with my next birthday!
Favorite birthday memory… hmm… I guess growing up one of my best friends in school had the same birthday as me and we would always have a party together, usually complete with Dairy Queen ice cream cake.
This years birthday was the best my daughter and sister came to see me with fabric gift cards in hand! Thanks for the giveaway.
This week I just had a birthday. My grand daughter brought a cake. She was determined to put 64 (gasp) candles on it and light them. My grandson in law started yelling for a fire extinguisher when she got just half of them lit. What a good time we had
My favorite birthday memory is when my husband and I celebrated our birthday’s together at a very upscale modern restaurant. His birthday is exactly 7 days after mine and he doesn’t let me forget it!
On my 21st birthday, my mom took me to the horse races near where I grew up in Pennsylvania. While we were there she just happened to win a drawing for a trip to California. She hadn’t traveled much and had never flown so it was very exciting!
Going out for ice cream (good ice cream!) with two friends (I’m a small group person) – it was actually quite a bit of fun.
My favorite birthday memory was the year my mom tied strings to tootsie pops and hid them up in the ceiling light. When it was time to pull the strings to get our surprise, the tootsie pops were hot and sticky. 🙂
A few years ago my cousin (who was about 5) helped me blow out the candles on my cake. She then grabbed the cake in both hands and turned about half of it into a pile of crumbs!
Favorite birthday memory from childhood: getting to go to Chuck E Cheese every year with a few friends – I’m sure it drove my mom insane, but she still did it 🙂
I’m a twin and our birthday is a few days before Christmas. We were 9 before we got individual gifts rather the same item in different colors. It sticks out!
Happy Birthday !
My favourite birthday memory was on my 40 and a trip to France was arranged by my husband and a party with my family and friend !
being in India on my birthday and after months of backpacking splurging on a hotel with a pool and toiletries 🙂
Favorite birthday memory… I think it has to be when I was 4 and my grandma made me a birthday cake that had a barbie on top, and the whole skirt was made of frosting and icing. It was amazing. She was such an amazing crafter, absolutely inspiring.
Sweet fabrics…. so many ideas!
I feel like it would be helpful if I read instructions… so sorry! lol! My best birthday memory: 2006, when my husband proposed 🙂 p.s. Happy birthday!
When my friends threw me an awesome bday party when I was 23? I think. That was the best week ever.
